Pro-Rector Profile
Fernando Carvalho Silva
Graduated in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Maranhão. He holds a master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos and a PhD in Chemistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
He is currently a professor in the Department of Chemistry at UFMA, subunit of the Center for Exact Sciences and Technology, since 1994. He is part of the faculty of the following Graduate Programs: Master in Chemistry, Professional Master in Energy and Environment and Doctorate in Biotechnology , Biodiversity of the Amazon Region - BIONORTE and coordinates the Fuel, Catalysis and Environmental Center - NCCA.
With his training in Organic Synthesis, he has been working mainly on the following topics: combustible microemulsions, biodiesel, petroleum products, sensors, development of analysis methods, chromatography, catalysis and environmental monitoring.
He was Pro-Rector of the Pro-Rector of Research, Graduate Studies and Innovation at the Federal University of Maranhão between 2007 and 2017. He was Vice-Rector of the Federal University of Maranhão between 2015 and 2019. Currently, he develops research management work, science, entrepreneurship, internationalization and innovation in the new pro-rectory called AGEUFMA.
