The Agency for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Research, Graduate Studies and Internationalization (AGEUFMA) is an executive body of the upper administration of the Federal University of Maranhão, which came up with the management of Rector Natalino Salgado, in 2020, and aims to plan, guide , execute, coordinate and supervise the activities of Technological Innovation, Research, Graduate Studies, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization within UFMA.

To this end, it seeks to develop actions that promote the training of qualified human resources, disseminate scientific and technological knowledge on a global level, expand and consolidate international partnerships and enhance the entrepreneurial and innovative capacity of the academic community, providing solutions and services to society.

AGEUFMA has five Directorates: Directorate of Innovation Management and Technological Services (DIST), Directorate of Research and Technological Innovation (DPIT), Directorate of Graduate Studies (DPG), Directorate of Entrepreneurship (DEMP) and Directorate of internationalization (DIN ), which are subdivided and make up the Institution's specific Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Research and Internationalization services.

The guidelines of AGEUFMA are:

I. Promote, support and permanently manage creative activities in scientific production, technological, artistic and entrepreneurial innovation of the institution's teachers, students and technical-administrative staff;

II. Disseminate scientific, technological knowledge, processes, products and services from all areas of knowledge of the Institution;

III. Disseminate the culture of technological innovation and protect the intellectual property of the Federal University of Maranhão through technological training, registration, licensing and technology transfer;

IV. Manage and coordinate the processes related to research and technological innovation projects. Stimulate the growth of scientific and technological production, nuclei and research groups, as well as keeping the Institution's qualitative and quantitative data updated;

V. Articulate strategic partnerships with public, private or government sectors, for the development of scientific and technological projects and services;

VI. Establish criteria, standards and resolutions to ensure that research, innovation, services and entrepreneurship activities in partnership or collaboration with third parties are formalized by legal instruments;

VII. Evaluate and monitor the covenants, agreements and contracts for the provision of services with companies and institutions, public or private;

VIII. Promote institutional actions to train human resources in entrepreneurship and stimulate the process of pre-incubation and incubation of innovative technology-based companies; IX. Provide technical support in the preparation of cooperative projects between UFMA and its partners, related to research, innovation and entrepreneurship; X. Promote the culture of entrepreneurship in the academic environment, as well as support and monitor UFMA's Junior Companies;

XI. Structuring the UFMA Technological Park, aiming at expanding innovation and entrepreneurship and the interaction between public sectors, universities and companies;

XII. Manage and coordinate lato sensu and stricto sensu graduate activities within UFMA;

XIII. Coordinate and execute the Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC), High School (PIBIC-EM) and the Institutional Program for Initiation Scholarships in Technological Development and Innovation (PIBITI).

XIV. Consolidate, expand and disseminate academic scientific, technological and cultural cooperation with international institutions to promote research, teaching and extension, mobility and innovation actions in the various areas of knowledge;

XV. Manage and coordinate the Mobility-OUT Programs of students, technicians and researchers of the Institution and Mobility-IN of students and foreign researchers.
